Team naming policy

At PPT we do things differently (we think better). One aspect is our requirements for ohow teams are named.

Like most organisations we expect team names to be in good taste, although risqué, humour, and double entendres are fine, even encouraged 😉

But there are a few other requirements:

Names must be unique

Every team name must be unique, that does not just apply within a season, but across our whole history. The only reason we allow repeat names is if the team has a connection with the old team (in which case its considered a continuation of that team). We require this as every team is part of a long tradition (and in fact we have team running around from back at the start 20 years ago), as such we keep records of every season and we don’t want confusion.

Names can’t be confused with the organisation

Every regular become a member and all members are equal. As such we don’t want any team in our social competitions to be thought of as representing the whole organisation (we have representative teams for that). So a name like Princes Park Rangers or PPT Rangers would not be allowed but the name Park Princesses would be fine

Names can’t directly reference another organisation

This requirement is similar, in that every member is joining our organisation, not representing another. Other clubs and businesses can and do enter teams but they joining us so if you want to make the connection make it indirectly. E.g. the team from Caroline Chisholm College is called Chis Chargers (which is fine).
