Peter Shaw advised those in attendance that 2023-24 Summer season was slightly down from the record numbers in 2022-23. He found it puzzling why but “I guess we can’t grow every season”. In contrast the 2024 winter season had concluded with a record number of teams and was now at the absolute maximum capacity possible.
The biggest change from an organisational perspectives being the move to a central player insurance model (insurance now being directly between the player and TFA) which lightens the burden financially and administratively on the association but adds additional complication for each players.
Other issues include the decline in adult player numbers statewide (with the exception of PPT) and the continued high turnover in staff in the office at TFV
Training programs like SWITCH and preseason were very similar to previous years, although there had been record sign ups for our upcoming SWITCH program. We also had very healthy interest in the planned term 4 juniors program but were struggling to find a committed coaches on Wednesday afternoons with two coaches unavailable and our main coach having many conflicting engagements over the planned nights
He also advised the committee that the association had been successful with it ground application for the Summer season and would be located in Princes Park, Carlton again as usual. Team registrations were looking very healthy.
