This week we are talking about the what is and is not a forward pass.
The rule is that ball must not travel forward out of the hands. BUT physics demonstrates that when a player with forwards momentum passes a ball that ball can travel forward even if the ball travels backwards out of the hands. That is not a forward pass and will often happen with longer passes.

So before you yell “forward pass ref!”, I suggest you watch the video below . There may be plenty of passes you thought were forward which are not!
