Our last two weeks on Wednesdays are finals and playoffs. Whether the game is a semi or a friendly is noted. In finals there is no extra time so in the event of a draw the team placed higher on the ladder goes through (listed first in the fixture). And all finals are played under finals eligibility. Every player must have played 4 games and be on the team list. If teams need to vary this their captain must seek approval from our committee before the match is played. Importantly PPT is about participation. Therefore teams missing out on finals still playoff for positions, so if your team misses finals you are still playing this week and next week. Importantly teams missing out on grand finals still playoff for final position, so all teams are playing this week. Princes Park Touch is a social organisation (not sporting organisation). As such we are running a free BBQ for teams playing in the first and second time slots. We encourage all teams to bring a slab then adjourn at the end of the nigh to the Great Northern Hotel for our presentations and an end of season dinner (we shall have extra vouchers). Therefore we will appply the sports medicine Australia guidelines (now also used by touch) on this. This considers both temperature and humidity and atm humidity is forecast to be low, resulting in a moderate (yellow) risk level. Therefore the only modification planned is to run regular drinks breaks. Team and individual Registrations are open for our Summer 2026-27 touch football (also called touch rugby) competition, located in Melbourne’s heart: Princes Park on Wednesday and Thursday evenings

To enter a team or join as an individual follow these instructions:

Individuals

If you are an individual or small group without a team, wishing to be placed into team please use our Individual Players form and follow the instructions.Every year we place large numbers and there is no cost for placement.

New Teams

To enter a new team (i.e. a team that has not played with us before). Please ensure you have familiarised yourself with this seasons competition. Then download and complete the following Team Registration Form and email it to: info@princesparktouch.com.

If you have not collected all your players details do not worry (we will send you a link where you can add additional names later), just ensure the following are details are recorded:

• Team name
• Captains or primary contacts details (phone number and email)
• Approximate standard of team, note your actual grade will be determined over the grading round(s)

Once we have received your form we will hold a place for you in the competition.

Please note team entries of new mens teams are temporarily on hold while I confirm with long standing existing teams (as we always preference long standing teams as they are current members).

In October and November we will be providing team coaching for existing teams and training and refereed scratch matches for unaligned players looking to start playing touch or those just keen to upgrade their skills or get back into it.

The preseason nights will incorporate an interview, coaching and playing components and will be used to assess unaligned players and place them into teams to play in the PPT Summer competition. We have now locked in the following dates:

Our pre season nights are on:

• Wednesday the 28th of October at 6:20PM for 6:30pm (add to calendar)
• Thursday the 05th of November at 6:20PM for 6:30pm (add to calendar)

Touch is an all weather sport so our preseason night are run in the rain (even torrential)

Where

• The venue is Princes Park, Carlton. We shall be near field 1 on this map. And I´ll have flags up so will be easy to find.

Format

Our pre season nights incorporate:

1. A short chat with one of our committee to determine individual player experience and what sort of touch you wish to play.
2. A short training session, with groups broken up by ability.
3. A refereed scratch match to gauge ability and provide a fun run around
4. An optional drink with our committee either next to the fields or at our Summer sponsor, the Great Northern Hotel.

These nights are primarily for individual players. Existing teams or players wishing to attend and are welcome but are requested to let us know.

Winter 2026

I hope you are having a good off season, after two weeks break from touch I thought I’d take a chance to reflect on the season that was.

The weather was perfect for our final night and 2 out of 4 grand finals could not have been any closer (both a 4 all draw),and it was also great to see such healthy numbers at the Wild Geese afterwards for the end of season celebration and the visit of our local MLC Sheena Watt. Anyway thanks for being part of our Winter season, as someone who organises a team I know it can be challenging but rewarding. It was our largest (most number of teams) and equal longest (most weeks) Winter and our third with a clubhouse (although we did not use it as much as we should have). There were some issue with field markings and not everyone understood the expectations of membership but overall a success I think

We are a competition that is run for and by its members (which includes the current players and referees) so please pass it on to your teammates. I am a huge believer in constructive criticism so don’t hold back.

SWITCH Spring 2026

The second module of our women’s program SWITCH starts on the 08th of October. The free program teaches basic fitness, ball skills and an introduction to game play with the emphasis on having fun in what we believe is the best game.
