In addition to a typical Christmas message this does also contain some useful info around what we have been up to and our plans for 2022. 😉
But first I’d like to reflect on 2021. Its been a tough year but I think PPT has navigated it well. During these times with the disruption and working from home I know playing touch with and socialising with friends in an amazing park environment was something many (including myself) looked forward too.
I was especially proud of the fact that not only did we finish the 2021 Winter season (in November) but also grew participation this year to record levels. Across our various arms we were already the largest touch organisation in the state but thrillingly for the first time our mid week social competitions are now the biggest in Victoria (11 years ago we were 4th).
Especially pleasing is the history we now have in our park competition. One team now in its 20th year playing at PPT and many with 15 years or more of history still running around. This season we also started our Juniors program and will be running a second module in 2022 so we can now look at getting multiple generations involved.
Anyway let look at what is coming up

Please keep Thursday evenings free (6:30 start), sign up (if you have not signed up to previous modules) and most importantly spread the word.
All women no matter what their level of play are welcome to attend our womens program (SWITCH).
Our second SWITCH module for 2021 will start in late October and run on Thursday evenings at 6:30 through to the end of November. This program will be based at our Summer venue (Princes Park) and the first session is on the 28th of October (but you can join after the first session).
More info of SWITCH and how to sign up are available below
What is SWITCH?
Twice a year Princes Park Touch in partnership with VicHealth run a FREE learn to play touch and fitness programs to Strengthen Women in Touch Football (SWITCH).
These programs run for 5-6 weeks and are targeted at females who are new or inexperienced players.
The program teaches basic fitness, ball skills and an introduction to game play with the emphasis on having fun in what we believe is the best game. We supply everything, all you need to bring is yourself and your playing gear.
The program will be predominately run by experienced female players who can also share their experiences. For those without a team the program also incorporates the options of being placed into a mixed or women’s team in our social competitions (this is usally handled before those seasons start).
or if you have any questions contact:
In 2021-22 Princes Park Touch will run two 6 week mixed junior touch programs for boys and girls in years 7-9. These modules will run for 6 weeks and will progress in terms of competition. The first in term four 2021 (with a second module in term 1 2022) and starts on the 27th of October 2021.
I will be presented by experienced coaches/referees with a background in education and junior coaching.
The location of the program will be on Wednesdays at Princes Park, Parkville and it will run from 4:30PM to 6PM.
It is now apparent that lockdown will not end before the end of September, therefore any hope of completing our season at Kensington is now gone. As we guarantee a mininum of 12 games (and usually provide 13-14), we have refunded all teams pro rata for the fact we have not been able to complete the second half of the season.
For those teams in the finals when we ceased competition there is however hope to be crowned champions for your grade for our 2021, as it may be possible for the usual two weeks of grading at the start of our Summer season to double as the Winter finals but this will not be known until timelines become apparent.
