PPT path back – update 08th of July

Posted on by and

Guys a further update on the path back to playing.

On Monday the 06h of July Melbourne was laced in a 6 week lockdown ending at 11:59pm on Wednesday 19 August 2020. Based on that time frame we still have a window to run a short Winter season and plan to do so.

We already have competiton approvals in place and therefore plan to begin a shortened 5-6 week competition on Wednesday 26th of August 2020. Obviousy this may change (again) but the key point is that as soon as we can run we will run this season (even if that were to be a 2 week tournament in late September)

Details of registration for individuals and teams are detailed below.

In 2020 at PPT women will be leading us back out onto the field

Twice a year Princes Park Touch in partnerhsip with VicHealth run a FREE learn to play touch and fitness programs to Strengthen Women in Touch Football (SWITCH).

These programs run for 5-6 weeks and are targeted at females who are new or inexperienced players.

The program teaches basic fitness, ball skills and an introduction to game play with the emphasis on having fun in what we believe is the best game. We supply everything, all you need to bring is yourself and your playing gear.

The program will be predominately run by experienced female players who can also share their experiences and at the conclusion of the program (those that don´t have a team) will have the choice of being placed into a team

Where: JJ Holland Park, Kensington. Here is a map of our Winter Location.

Update the current program is suspended after the 6 week melbourne wide lockdown announced on the 06th of July. We plan to run a new module as soon as the lockdown is lifted.

The program will last 6 week but dates of the last 2 weeks will be decided by the particpants . The options being running concurrently with the regular season or at its conclusion.

In an effort to build the social touch community in the inner north of Melbourne, we are again running the PPT pre season program.

The program is free and open to all prospective players regardless of ability and will involve coaching and refereed scratch matches for unaligned players looking to start playing touch. And at the conclusion we will place individuals without a team into teams in our competition. All pre season nights will be held at JJ Holland Park, Kensington. Map here

We have set the rescheduled dates for our pre season program. Our ground in Kensington is not under the recent restrictions and we have the approvals to proceed with contact training from the relevant authorities for these dates. As such these dates are firm and the pre season nights will run in conjection with our SWTCH program which has already started:

Update the current program is suspended pending us finding a new ground as the postcode of our Winter home ground was added to the lockdown on Saturday the 04th of July. The season proper is still scheduled to go ahead after the lockdown ends on Wednesday 19 August 2020.

If you are an individual looking to be placed please register as as individual player so we have you on file.
